Now on to our MARCH Farm Fresh Challenge. This month our challenge is a bit of a fun one after my own heart:
Mixed Media Madness!
I am a cardmaker at heart. Those are my roots in crafting! Today I wanted to combine my love of making cards with my love of mixed media. I started by creating my background on watercolor paper using the new Distress Oxide inks. I don't have any of the ink pads yet but I do have some of the reinkers so I created my background using the "smooshing" technique. I added a few drops to my craft mat, spritzed with some water and just dipped my paper in it smooshing it around to pick up and blend the colors together. I used Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber. Once that was dry (I used my heat tool to speed up the process) I sprinkled some water on the paper and picked it up with a paper towel. Next I pulled out a stencil and using Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, I added some texture to my background. Then I added a bit of acrylic paint spray to add some splatters to my page in a dark grey. Then I added some white splatters with a Sharpie paint pen. Next I added some stamping to my background in the same colors of Distress Ink using a stamp from the Jesus Is The Way stamp set from The Greeting Farm's Faith Collection. At this point, I die cut my panel to fit my card base.
Once my background was die cut, I stamped this darling little angel also from the Jesus Is The Way stamp set using my MISTI so I could double stamp on the textured background. I used a Jane Davenport Paint Over pen to color her flesh but kept the rest the same as the background. The paint over pen does cover up some of the stamping so I left my stamp in the MISTI so I could stamp again once I was finished coloring the skin. I also added Spectrum Noir Glitter pen in clear to her dress for a bit of shimmer!
At this point it was time to start building my card. After I put my background on my card base, I added some washi tape to the top and bottom corners then I die cut a piece to stamp my sentiment which comes from the brand new set released yesterday from our Faith Collection called Blessed Words. This stamp set is just wonderful for adding a statement sentiment to your cards as well as for building sentiments in bible journaling.
Now be sure to head over to The Greeting Farm Blog to read the rules and link up your card.
Hugs!
