Guest Designer for Butterfly Reflections Inc: WPlus9 Pattern Stamping

Hi everyone! I'm back for my last post as Butterfly Reflections, Inc October Guest Designer! I guess you can say I am in full fledged holiday mode - bring on the snow, I AM READY! Yes, I am already listening to Christmas music - any excuse and making Christmas cards is the perfect excuse in my book. Today, I am using the Holiday Cheer stamp set from WPlus9's latest release. As soon as I saw this stamp set, I knew I had to have it. I have become slightly addicted to open line art images paired with solid stamped images and this set has both - it was definitely coming home to me! I loved it so much as soon as I started stamping that I have not one, not two but THREE cards for you today. Plus, a process video - I hope you will enjoy seeing how fast and simple these cards are to make. I will be making a few more using this technique with a lot of different colors to have on hand to mail out this season. I'm showing you one of my cards here, but please head on over to the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog post to see the other two as well as my process video - or you can check it out on my YouTube Channel.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I would love it if you would click on the button below to subscribe to my blog to let me know you enjoy what you see and would like to see more!

The Greeting Farm Tip Me Tuesday: Zombie Coloring

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be joining The Greeting Farm for another Tip Me Tuesday post. I went a little wild for this one so just stick with me. First, I have to warn everyone on the farm, there seems to be a teensy bit of a zombie epidemic hitting stamps everywhere and today it has come to The Greeting Farm so…beware - you just might get bitten and be compelled to take on this challenge once you read on.

It all began when I saw Lydia at Understand Blue post a picture on instagram of some bunny stamps she turned into zombies. I got a little giggle out of it. Then there may have been a zombie little drummer boy roaming around but I can neither confirm nor deny that because I can't seem to find any evidence of the fact now. Next, Sandy Allnock (another friend of the farm) and Zoe of Make It Crafty had a little coloring collaboration on Periscope transforming one of her stamps into a zombie and that was it. I'd been bitten by the challenge and had to give it a try. (You can actually read more about their challenge HERE) Little Poppy here is from the Super Secret Stamp Club and she was JUST released into the store this month if you missed out on getting her during the club subscription. She was just asking to be zombie-fied with that little skull in her hair, don't you think?!

Copics:
Skin (E81, E84, E87, YG95, YG99, E43)
Eyes (R02, R01, W1, W0, G0000, G20, 0)
Hair (W5, W7, W9, RV93, RV95, RV99, R99)
Clothes (C5, C6, C8, 100, @3, E43, YR31, Y26, Y28, W3)

Seriously, I can't stop staring at her! What do you think? Creepy or Awesome?! Do you want to give it a try? I'd love to see it if you do - post in The Greeting Farm Facebook page or on Instagram and tag it with #thegreetingfarm and #creativecolzombies. I can't wait to see what you come up with! I tried filming this but ended up not turning the camera back on after I did her skin and didn't really capture much to put on my YouTube channel so I'm thinking of hopping on Persicope Tuesday afternoon and coloring her again live. You can find my Persicope link on my side bar.

*GIVEAWAY* I need your help coming up with a sentiment to get Zombie Poppy on a card - leave your comments here or on MY TGF POST with a sentiment and I'll choose one person from all the comments to win the card I make with her along with a few other goodies from my crafty stash!

I will see you all next week with another (probably less creepy) Tip Me Tuesday!

Mixed Media: Dina Wakley Quote Challenge Art Journal

Hi everyone! It has been awhile since I've shared some mixed media I've done just for me. Last week, Dina Wakley issued a challenge to her fans on her Facebook page. Of course, I completely misinterpreted the challenge to use an inspiring quote and just saw the words challenge, art journal, quote and went with my favorite quote that I've been thinking about turning into a page in my art journal this month. Oops! I'm still happy I joined in the challenge though because I found so much joy in the process of this particular page.

October has always been my favorite month. I love how the air turns cooler and since moving to a state that has actual seasons, watching the leaves turn beautiful shades of gold, orange and red. The skies always seem to be a bit more bluer in October, too. This quote is one of my favorites to capture the way I feel about my favorite month. I added it to my page last and admittedly practiced a LOT before I actually wrote on my page. I just don't like my handwriting and wish I could master beautiful lettering but don't seem to have the patience to learn. haha I wrote the quote with the Stabilo All Purpose pencil in black and went over the lines with a damp paintbrush to darken the ink. Then I filled in all the loops with a white gel pen.

Here is a close up of the left page. I'm seriously giddy that I am working in this large Dylusions Creative Journal. I have had it for ages and been too intimidated by such a large work area - 11x17 I think is about the size of the double spread pages which is a LONG way from the 4.25x5.5 size cards I'm comfortable working on! Once I let go of that fear though, I love the large area and really enjoy letting myself get lost in the process of filling it up.

I love this page because you can see how pretty the Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic paints mix when I sprayed them with water and let them drip down my page. This is definitely a happy moment on the page. I used the colors Turquoise and Night - they are my favorites!

I'm going to flood my post now with some close ups of the page:

This is another favorite part of my page. I used some coffee filter pages by Christy Tomlinson that I've hoarded FOREVER to cut out my pumpkins and adhered them to my page with Liquitex Gel Medium. I outlined the edges of each pumpkin with the Stabilo All Purpose Pencil in black and went over top with a damp paint brush. Then I used a combination of Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylics and Dyan Reaveley Dylusions paints with my fingers to color each pumpkin. For the stems and shadows I used Golden Acrylic in Burnt Sienna.

Jane's Doodles: Winter Wishes New Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Welcome to Jane's Doodles new release blog hop where we are featuring Winter Wishes! You should have just arrived from Milka's blog - if not, just scroll down for a full list of everyone participating today. We have two new Design Team members as well as one very special guest!

I just adore the critters in this stamp set and had to use as many as I could fit on one card! I couldn't hold back any longer and added Brusho Watercolors to my ever growing watercolor medium collection and have been itching to try them so I thought I would give them a try on a background today. I had a few bumps along the way as I created this card but I pushed on and I'm so glad I did because even though the end result wasn't what I originally had in mind, it is absolutely adorable. The process from what we envision when we sit down to create to what actually comes to life is a journey. I hope you will join me in my studio to see how this card came together today:

WPlus9: Clean and Simple Watercolor Cards

Since it's October and another WPlus9 release is just around the corner...5 days to be exact, I thought I better play with the last release a bit more! I pulled out the Wishing You stamp set and created 3 very simple cards on my favorite Strathmore Watercolor cards. I colored the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens without water  and I have to be honest, it was hard to stop at just three. This stamp set is absolutely adorable and a blast to color.

I kept my first card very simple. I trimmed the cards down to 4.25 x 5.5" (they come 5x7") - stamped the sweet image and sentiment in the middle and wrapped some twine below it. The sentiment comes from the Wishing You Sentiments set - a great add on to the sweet bunnies!

I mean, really, can it BE any cuter?! {done in my best Chandler Bing voice} Rounding out the corners and adding a small scattering of matching sequins was the perfect touch for this card.

I went a little bit further with my last card by adding a window using the My Favorite Things Die-namics LJD Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows. I stamped the bunnies and colored them on the inside adding the sentiment from the Happy Mail stamp set. I kept the front simple adding the Thank You I die cut from the Hand Lettered Thanks die and some small sequin stars.

I am also going to enter my cards into Virginia's View Challenge #19 - hello, I LOVE the theme this month so I am SURE I will be back with more entries, too!!!
