How to alter a journal with Sweet Stamp Shop & Watercolor

Hi all you sweet fans! Carisa here with you today and I have a really fun project for you today. I love altering these little journals that I pick up in the dollar section at my local craft store. I was inspired by the Sweet Stamp Shop Across The Miles stamp set to create a Summer Road Trip journal. I think it would be perfect to document your summer travels with journaling, pictures and ticket stubs or souvenirs you pick up along the way!

I started by watercoloring a background for my main image panel using Derwent Inktense pencils. I am using 140lb watercolor paper and did a wet on wet technique to create the background. I dried my paper completely and added my image using gold embossing. I love the shine that this added to my stamp on top of the watercolor background.

I wanted to create a custom title for the cover so I pulled out my Outline Lower Alpha stamp set and spelled out the word Summer. This set is an absolute must have to create your own custom titles and sentiments for projects and cards. Then I stamped road trip from the Across The Miles stamp set underneath to complete the title for this journal. I colored in the word summer using the same two blue Derwent Inktense pencils I used on the background to create an ombre look and instead of using water to pull out the color, I used a Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to give it some extra shimmer. This is one of my favorite ways to use my Derwent Inktense pencils.
