My Favorite Things - Sketch Challenge Card

Hi everyone! I had so much fun with this week's MFT Sketch Challenge
I finally had some MFT in my hot little hands and I couldn't wait to ink them up. I knew I wanted to create a watercolor focal point for the sketch so I decided to go with the MSTN I Love You More stamp set from the current release. I absolutely adore the sentiments in this stamp set. I am in love with the Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 papers (I'm doing this new thing where if I love a paper pad…I'm using it! Whoa, funny concept, huh?! LOL)

I have to admit, I kinda finagled with the brad for a bit before I got it "just right" In fact, if you follow me on instagram, you may have seen a slightly different version of this card as I had originally twisted some thread around it but I kept looking at it and it just felt off - so I cut it off and added this Lawn Fawn Silver Sparkle Hemp Cord in instead and had that moment of yes, that's right now! I also added the Want 2 Scrap bing after as I forgot to put it on before I instagramed my card. hehe Sometimes seeing that picture is like taking a step back and I can tweak it or add elements I forget before. I like that!

The Greeting Farm Hello Card

This is going to be a quick post - I couldn't resist popping this cutie from the Winter Greetings set by The Greeting Farm on a card - she's been sitting on my desk since my Copic class in December and I thought she matched pretty well with my current Bo Bunny Altitude Collection obsession!

I also caught a sneak peek of the new Deconstructed Sketch No. 184 and I knew it would all fall together nicely. I love playing in challenges so I'm also going to enter this into the FFF It's Cold Outside Challenge (deadline rapidly approaching). The DT is really amazing this year at TGF - they made some eye catching samples you should definitely check out!

Ok, that's it for me. Told ya, a quickie. haha

Watercolor Wednesday - Kit & Clowder Color Challenge

This is an image by Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps  that is available for FREE (with certain terms - check them all out first) at the Kit & Clowder Facebook page. I've noticed these images for awhile but they've always just sort of intimidated me. I'm glad I pushed past that to give her a try. I printed her on 140lb Canson Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper and pulled out my Peerless Watercolor palette. (I think I'm going to use these up a lot faster than people say you should. haha)

Here is a close up of the coloring. I added the happy birthday sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders stamp set. I love this set for adding an elegant sentiment that stretches across a card. They are sized such that they would stamp all the way across an A2 card with little scripty loops. I also used the Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 Paper Collectionthat came with the SSS January Card kit as it was perfect for this color challenge. I haven't loved a paper collection like I do this one in awhile. The colors are all my favorites with the purple and teals. I plan on using this one A LOT. No hoarding allowed! Lately, it seems what is a card without some sequins - I love these moonshine sequins at Simon Says Stamp. They have an assortment of sizes which is nice in one pack.

Oooh, one more thing - I have heard about a new challenge blog called Sparkle and Shine Challenge - about to pop up and it's ALL about sequins. I couldn't resist so I'm going to apply with this card. :D

Mixed Media Art Journal - MFT Color Challenge

I saw the current MFT Color Challenge #13 and dug through my gelatos to pull out come colors that matched as close as possible:

When I heard that Donna Downey was reviving her Inspiration Wednesday in 2015 toward the end of last year, there was no doubt I wanted to join. After watching the first video on Jan 7, I decided to watch some of her past IW videos to fill the void while waiting for the next one and was completely inspired by this one from 8.14.13.

Simply gorgeous - I have always loved watching her IW videos but have yet to actually apply the techniques. Well, I am trying to remedy that this year and do more mixed media in my art journal and enjoy the process rather than being caught up in the "I'm no artist" mindset that stifles me so often.

I am so glad I did. I absolutely LOVE this page. While I didn't follow her completely, for instance, I used the colors from the MFT Color Challenge and I used gelatos instead of acrylics, a different stencil, sponged on the black gesso, etc. You can definitely see the inspiration in my page and it got me creating (experimenting) in my art journal which is the point, right!?

I was looking for the perfect stamp to complete my page and found this one from The Greeting Farm. It was perfect for the colors used and just a positive way to finish it off.

I hope you liked a look into my art journal and I really do hope to share more (and try to post in advance to revive my mixed media monday blog post series idea!)

The Greeting Farm Watercolor Shaker Card

Hi everyone! I'm sharing a fun card I created using the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge. MFT is kicking off the new year with a bang bringing on an awesome new Design Team and two new challenges each week - be sure to check them out! I love that you can enter even if you don't have MFT stamps or products but I definitely will not be without for very long - have you seen the new release?! Oh boy, it's tough falling in love with new (to me) stamp companies…well, it's easy because I sure do love cute but tough on the ol' bank account! haha Sketches are one of my favorite challenges to do because it gives you a great starting point for a card. I have a hard time following sketches to a T but I think that is part of the fun. I flipped the sketch on its side and created a shaker opening for the layers instead of paper using my Spellbinders Pierced Squares dies. I'm in awe of shaker cards and I am having fun giving them a try myself. It is just such a fun element to add all those shaker bits - and a great way to use all these sequins I've been hoarding collecting!

My stamp is from The Greeting Farm - Cheers Anya and I colored her using my Peerless Watercolors. I am really in love with these like I mentioned in my post last week. This cutie patootie is actually on SALE right now at The Greeting Farm so if you love her, go grab her for a great price! I stamped her on Tim Holtz watercolor paper and after I finished coloring her, fussy cut her out. I propped her up on some foam tape for extra dimension. This card is anything but flat! I stamped the numbers from the Digits Paper Smooches stamp set in versa mark on this fab metallic card stock and embossed with Imagine Crafts gold embossing powder. I love the mix of gold and silver together. The sentiment comes from the Sparkle And Shine Simon Says Stamp set and I embossed again (I think I've finally caught the embossing bug…I'd like to thank Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire for that!) with Imagine Crafts white embossing powder.

I love how this card turned out and I already know who I will be sending it to as I start my year of mailing cards to unsuspecting friends and family members!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:
