Tombow DT Call!

Hi everyone! I think Tombow is a household name in every crafter's home - at least I know it is in mine! I have used Tombow adhesives and have recently fallen head over heels for Tombow Dual Brush Markers. When I saw they were holding a DT Call Out, I knew I had to go for it - you never know if you don't try, right?! (The deadline is TODAY!) 

They have asked for 3 projects that showcase our style & talent plus at least one DIY. I am sharing a Christmas ornament, a card, a mixed media canvas that I've created. I really think these three projects showcase who I am as a designer!

First, I want to share this ornament I created especially for this DT Call Out! 

I absolutely adore this CC Designs snowman and colored him up using my Tombow Dual Brush Markers. I added some glossy accents and Black enamel accents to his glasses and buttons as well as all over glitter with a Wink of Stella clear pen. 

I have had this chipboard ornament since last year, wanting to alter it up. I sprayed it with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine and then added all my elements (mostly from Pretty Little Studio) using Tombow Multi Mono Liquid Glue - this stuff is AH-Mazing!!! Holds like crazy and dries so fast. I know it's Halloween today…but I am SOOO ready for Christmas! Tell me I'm not the only one sneaking in listening to my favorite Christmas songs. hehe

My next two projects are some I have created  and shared already but I felt they really showcased my style (and *eek* talent?!) First, here is my card:

These bloom girl stamps from Prima are absolutely gorgeous. This is essentially a one layer card that just showcases the design and coloring. There are a few other elements such as the chipboard sentiment and some texture with Golden Acrylics Gold Mica Flakes and some Glass Bead Glitter Gel by Faber-Castell but not much!

I colored the stamp using Tombow Dual Brush markers on watercolor paper. I love how beautifully these markers blend with water. This close up shows all the texture and shading created (especially her hair_ using these water based markers!

Next is my mixed media canvas (I actually don't think I've shared this on my blog before):

I created my background on the 5x7 canvas first with different papers, paints, stamps, gesso, stencils and rub ons. Then I adhered my already stamped and colored image and blended her into the background with Faber Castell Pitt pens and more rub ons. 

It is always fun to add a little 3d texture to my mixed media projects with some buttons and twine.

Those are my 3 projects for the Tombow DT Call Out - wish me luck!! They are going to announce on their blog Nov 4 who makes it to Round 2 - so…my fingers might be a little cramped but I'm totally keeping them crossed till then. haha

Lawnscaping DT Call - Lawn Fawn Inktense Card

Hi Friends! Happy Weekend! I'm super excited because this is my first weekend off in months. I start a new job on Monday and it is going to be SO nice to have weekends off with my family - honestly, I can't remember the last time both my hubby and I are off together!! Lawnscaping Challenges is having a DT call for new members of their Facebook Inspiration Team: 

I entered two previous Lawn Fawn cards right away but I also wanted to create one more just for the call (you can enter up to three times!) I finally got my Derwent Inktense pencils and couldn't wait to color with them. I thought these two birds from the Feathered Friends set are adorable and so I looked up love birds on google to see how to color them since I used the Milo's ABCs set to create a custom sentiment.

There was a photo that had two love birds snuggled up and their coloring looked like a heart so I lightly drew a heart outline between the birds where I wanted the red color to go and then started coloring with my Inktense pencils. I am SO in love with these pencils - I feel like I have finally found a coloring medium that allows me to get blending and shading like I did with my Copics. I also stamped the branch with Distress Ink and colored it in with my Intense pencils. Then I masked both the birds and the branch to do some ink blending with Distress Inks. I used the Lawn Fawn #awesome Custom Craft Die to cut the instagram photo out but I didn't use the stamp itself. I just kept inlaid the dies together to create the frame. 

For my custom sentiment I used the Milo's ABCs stamp to stamp Love Birds and instead of the O I used the heart from the Feathered Friends stamp set. Then I masked off Friends from the Hello Friends stamp to just stamp out hello. I thought this would be cute for an  anniversary or even wedding card. I colored the heart with Inktense pencils and added Glossy Accents. I also thought it need a little pop so I added the white gel pen on the hello - couldn't resist filling in those loopy letters!

I absolutely adore how this card turned out - for the stitching and x's I used the Paper Smooches Stitched Die Set. I love that! I love the look of stitching but kinda have a sewing machine phobia. LOL I would love to join the Lawnscaping Challenges FIT team - I love Lawn Fawn stamps - they are one of my favorites because no matter what kind of mood I'm in, these stamps always make me smile to create with. Visible Image - Roses The One - Inspiration Thursday

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a one layer card I made using images from Visible Image. I received the Roses Stamp Set and The One Sentiment Stamp and instantly thought it would make a great anniversary card or wedding card. I decided to pair them together for todays card. I started by stamping the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx ink on my watercolor paper and then stamping the roses around it. I used Distress Ink to stamp the flowers and then used my paintbrush to draw the color out from the stamped lines - I LOVED using this technique to watercolor my images. Distress Ink is water bases and stays pretty juicy after you ink it - coloring the image this way gave it a more painted look. I also added some yellow and blues for highlights and shadows from my Sakure Koi Watercolor set. I also used Wink of Stella on the flowers for some shimmer!

After I was finished coloring the roses and it had dried, I started coloring the background using blues and greens. I kept the paint away from the sentiment for the most part as I didn't want it to be covered up. I added some hand drawn lines to frame it on the card and I love how it turned out. My hubby wants me to do this same technique on a large piece of watercolor paper to frame - I think I just might have to try that!

Watercolor Wednesday: Tombow Dual Brush Markers

Hello friends! Welcome to another Watercolor Wednesday. This week I created a simple card using a stamp from the Prima Bloom Girls collection by Jamie Dougherty - this beauty is named Summer. Be sure to check out the Prima Bloom Girl Design Team blog for amazing inspiration using these gorgeous stamps. I stamped her using Archival Ink in Black on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. This paper is sized 4.25 x 5.5 inches which is perfect for a standard sized A2 card front. I have been wanting to try the Tombow Dual Brush Pens which are water based and I picked up the Portrait set as well as a multi color set. I played with them all weekend on different papers - regular copy paper and cardstock - with not much luck for what I wanted. So, I decided to try watercolor paper and use water to move the color. It worked beautifully! 

You can really see the texture from the coloring - I am really happy with the shading and the texture in her hair. It is hard for me to let go of the precision perfection I am used to achieving with Copic markers or other alcohol based markers. I am still learning how to use watercolors and experimenting with different types. With the Tombow Dual Brush Pens, I find laying down a line of color where I want it and then going in with my wet paintbrush really pulled the color out. If I wanted more in a certain area, I would lay some color down on an acrylic block and pick it up with my paintbrush.

To create added texture and sparkle, I used 3 different mediums - Wink of Stella clear, Faber-Castell Glitter Bead medium and Golden Gold Spica medium. I used the Gold Spica in her hair for added interest and texture. I love the effect - I just painted it on in different areas. I added the Wink of Stella on the flowers and to create a halo around her in the sky, I used the Faber-Castell Glitter Bead medium.

I added a simple sentiment using a wood veneer by Studio Calico - I kept that simple as really the painting of the stamp is the main focus of the card but I wanted something as a sentiment to mail this. I know I whine a lot about having sold my Copics but I never would have ventured into these new mediums if I hadn't and I really feel like my creativity has been jump started because of it. :)

Visible Image - Watercolor Notecard Set & Video!

Hi everyone! I am FINALLY back with the set of notecards I created using the same technique from my card I posted on Thursday. I have a video for you as well today - I warn you - this is one of my first videos in a really long time. I am a bit rusty - the lighting isn't the best and I go off screen at times. LOL I hope you will still enjoy!
