7 Kids College Fund - Hexagon Challenge

Hi everyone! I'm so excited about our new challenge happening right now at 7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog. I'm sure you've noticed hexagons popping up all over the crafting world right now from pattern papers, stamps & embellishments! I've used pattern paper and embellishments in my project today as we're asking YOU to use HEXAGONS to join us in the challenge this week.

Here is my card:

I'm new to Kraftin Kimmie stamps and I'm totally head over heels in love with them. I only have 2 at the moment but that is DEFINITELY going to change soon! You can see all the Kraftin Kimmie Stamps that 7 Kids College Fund carries HERE. I hope you'll join us in the challenge - as always, up for grabs is a $20 shopping spree to anything 7 Kids College Fund carries!!

Here is a close up of the image I colored using Copics. I also listed what the colors I used below! I have to admit, I was a bit unsure whether to color her eyes or not, it just felt off leaving them stark white with every thing else so I did give a light shadow using T1/T0 just to give them a little bit of depth. I'm pleased with how it turned out. I couldn't have done it without the help of the amazing fans we have on the Designed To Color Facebook page - if you haven't followed us there, I hope you will!! It's a fun place to be!

COPIC LIST:
Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R01

One Little Word: Peace

After a week of soul searching about what I wanted my 2013 word to be, it came to me. You see, I wanted the opposite of what I struggle with most which is worry & fear. I had an entire list of words:

brave
courage
faith
bold
calm
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
it went on.....

and then in a whisper it came......peace.

You see, peace is the very OPPOSITE of fear and worry.

the very definition of peace:
freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions

Freedom happened to be in my list as well......and I would say that worry & fear are very disquieting and oppressive thoughts.

so.....it came to me, after a restless night plagued with both worry and fear....I kept asking for calmness....peace.

For the bible tells us,

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

Just so happened, I also had a couple of bible studies I picked up at a Women of Faith conference in 2011. I took them off my bookshelf and looked at them, there again was my word:

I am looking forward to doing this bible study as I reflect on my word. I have always admired a simple life...a simpler time. I think these go hand in hand and I'm very excited about this. When you find your word, you just....know.

I will share my One Little Word journey with you. If you are doing this, will you share your word with me, too? I'd love to follow along side you on your journey. Leave me a comment with your blog and your word!

In peace,

It is a NEW YEAR with NEW beginnings

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It has been a REALLY long time since I've posted on my blog. I just didn't have the desire to share much on here the last half of the year but I am feeling good about a new year and a fresh start. I want to try to give my blog a bit more attention these days. You'll be seeing more of me playing along with Unity Stamp Co as I'm now going to be in their regular rotation, not just doing videos which I'm super exited about. Plus, I'm also planning a blog makeover so be sure to stay tuned. It's back to remembering what truly makes me happy and what truly matters in life: my family, our simple life and the love of crafting. I'm really excited about new beginnings!!!

The first project I'm sharing this new year is a project made for our first challenge of the new year at 7 Kids College Fund. For our first challenge of the new year, we're creating WOW projects, wow being White On White!!! I've always been in awe of this elegant style so I had to give it a try. As always, we're giving away a $20 shopping spree to 7 Kids Colleg Fund to the winner of this challenge (chosen at random) so be sure to check out the Challenge Blog for MORE information and to enter!

This project couldn't come to life with out the use of my favorite Helmar products. Please check out my post on Helmar's Blog today to find out what I used and how I am able to make those butterflies look as if they are about to take flight off the card.

Excited to announce the new Design Team for 7 Kids College Fund!

Happy New Year!!!

I thought it would be great to take some time today to announce the new design team for 7 Kids College Fund. As the DT Leader, this was the first time I had to go through each email and try to decide who to select for the team -- that was SOOOO hard!!! We had an amazing amount of applications and we try to keep our team small with just 7 but we couldn't narrow it all the way down so we had to select 4 guest designers to complete our 6 months.

So, here is the new team, please help me in welcoming them on the 7 Kids College Fund Store blog and be sure to join us tomorrow on the Challenge Blog for our first challenge of 2013!!!!
