Making It Cute at 7 Kids Challenge with TGF Glimmer Bean

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my project for the new 7 Kids College Fund Challenge which is to Make It Cute - sorry I kinda hear Tim Gunn in my head saying that. *giggle* I just adored these CA-UTE new bean colletion from The Greeting Farm so for my card I used Glimmer & paired her with this fun & bright Amy Tangerine 6x6 paper. It's one of my new favs to tell you the truth! Do you see that cute flat back button with that adorable lemon image? You can get it and more at my friend Kellie Winnell's new shop called Freckles & Pigtails - all sorts of handmade embellishments like this!

Here is a close up of the glitter I used on her hair. I am in love with how it turned out! It's called Cool Highlight Microfine Glitter Ritz and you can still see the coloring I did underneath with this awesome shimmer now!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will play with us this week at 7 Kids College Fund challenge - it's a fun one - I mean, I'm SURE you have some cute stamps! ;)

Apple Blossom with Fiskars Cloud Background

I wanted to share how I created  this sky behind around my stamped image using my Fiskars Small Cloud punch. I've always had a hard time coloring the sky after I've colored a cute image so I normally fussy cut them out. However, this adorable new stamp Apple Blossom by Elizabeth Bell for Whimsy stamps had a cute little scene that I didn't want to cut out. So, as I was sitting at my desk I spotted my cloud punch and thought I could using some art masking tape to punch out some clouds and mask them off  to create my sky. Here is how I did it:

Here is the image I wanted to create a sky for. I had already started coloring her but stopped when I tried this technique in case I made a mistake. ;)

I started by stamping and masking the main image first. Since I was going to color the grass, I didn't mask the entire image leaving some of the tape as a skyline.

Next, I punched out my clouds from the art masking tape. I like using this because it is thin and sticks nicely but is easily removed when you are done.

Next, I place the clouds around my image, overlapping the image in some places. You can see above that I didn't mask of the butterfly because I planed to cover that with a cloud mask.

Now I'm using some distress inks to color the sky over the masks. I chose two different shades of blue for some contrast and depth.

I'm finished with the sky and have removed the mask. So cute!! I love how it turned out and I'm ready to finish coloring the image with this beautiful sky behind her!

I hope you enjoyed this technique and will look at your punches in a new way - I'm probably not the first person to have this aha moment with my cloud punch but I wanted to share it with you in case you've had a difficult time coloring in skies like I have!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

April Showers at Saturated Canary Challenges!

Hi Everyone!! I know it's been awhile since I participated in a Saturated Canary Challenge and I'm thrilled that I found time to participate this week! Our theme is April Showers and by the many different samples from the DT this can certainly be interpreted many different ways. Here is my card:

I used Stroppy Beth from Saturated Canary Digital Stamps. I absolutely adore her attitude she reminds me of my daughter but it's not really cute in the moment. *giggle* I found these awesome die cuts from October Afternoon in my stash and they were perfect for this weeks theme along with that sentiment from Papertrey Ink! I love when things work out like that.

Here is a close up of the image colored with Copics. I print all my images on Copic Xpress It Blending card - I'm absolutely smitten with this and it's my go to for coloring.

And I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere my image to my card since I wanted her partially over the rain of pearls but my Zap Dots weren't quite tall enough. I love Liquid Scrap Dots to give you the right amount of dimension you need for any project - even cards!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you will play with us this week. You can check out all the details and enter your card HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

7 Kids Challenge Card Using Spellbinders

Hi everyone!

Today is a new challenge at 7 Kids College Fund Challenges to use Die Cuts and or Punches. I finally used my Wonderful Wings Spellbinders set (which I'll clue you in on a little secret, it says it's for the grand caliber but they are sized just find to run thru a cuttlebug) I made this sympathy card for our 7 Kids DT Sister Frances who just lost her brother to cancer. She's amazing, still creating projects for us even in the midst of all the arrangements, I definitely wanted her to know that she's in my thoughts and prayers.

Unfortunately, hubby accidentally took my camera with him to work and my good picture is on there so I had to retake a picture with my phone. YUCK! I will replace this with the good picture as soon as he gets home.
