When I saw Mo's Digital Pencil had posted an adorable FREEBIE called Trudy and her Party Dress on her Facebook fan page - I just couldn't wait to get her, print her out and color her. As soon as I saw the paper doll dress, I had it in my head that I wanted to create a card that you could switch out different dresses. Last night I went to Archiver's with some friends and was able to get started on my idea. Thank you, Angela & Theresa for some fun girl time and enabling, ahem, I mean inspiring me with the perfect background paper for this card! ;D At first I couldn't figure out HOW exactly to make it so you could switch up the dresses until I saw the PTI Dress Form peeking out from my supplies - then I thought YESSSSS! Felt!
When I was a kid I LOVED those felt board that told the story using different pieces so that is what I did. I cut out a square of felt and put it on the back of each dress and then a square on Trudy's belly. So, one dress hangs on the felt dress form and the other on Trudy and then you can switch them:
Yay!!! It worked and my girls FLIPPED OUT when they saw it this morning - they love it so much - in fact, they are fighting over it right now. *giggle* Heck, I could hardly go to sleep after I finished it last night because I was so excited that I had done what I set out to do. :D Looks like I'll need to make another one so they can each have their own! I don't normally paper piece digital images but I couldn't resist with this idea. It was actually fairly easy to do. I placed a bunch of dresses on one sheet of paper after I had sized it & the girl image at the same time in PSE. Then I ran it thru my printer on a plain sheet of paper. This gave me a guide to know where to place my DP. Once I had the DP all down (I used washi tape), I ran it thru the printer again. I took a couple of pics to explain it better:
Seriously, easy and super cute! Of course, some of the paper, I didn't think out too well as the black was just too dark to use, but I did get about 3 good ones and I will definitely be doing this some more. To save time, I saved the file so I can reuse the same sheet of paper with different DP! :D
Thanks for stopping by - It was fun creating something just for kicks & stepping out of my comfort zone a little. :D It reminded me of why I love this hobby so much in the first place!
