THREE CHEERS and YEARS for TGF!!!!

Hello, friends!

WELCOME to The Greeting Farm's THREE YEAR Birthday Bash!

We are SO excited to kick off the August release by celebrating that The Greeting Farm is officially three. years. YOUNG.    First and foremost, we want to thank EVERYONE for your continued support, encouragement and enthusiasm these past three years.  We know it's said all over the cyber-world, but we TRULY appreciate and understand the fact that if it weren't for all of you, TGF would not be anywhere near the community and business it is today and for that we are truly grateful.

On that note, before I show you my project for today, we want to announce that we have an EXCLUSIVE digi stamp as a gift with ANY rubber stamp purchase TODAY through FRIDAY, August 5th at 10pm CST.    To claim your exclusive digi, just email Jessica with a copy of your receipt and your FREE GIFT will be sent shortly after!    Remember, this is ONLY good through the 5th at 10pm so make sure you get yours before it disappears forever ;)

As for my special project, I just had to ink up Birthday Boy Ian - how cute is he with his little banner? I love banners and wanted to give it that true texture of a fabric banner so I stamped it on some twill ribbon I had and then cut it out. I adhered it to the image using Helmar 450 Quick Dry. My project is certainly CLEAN and SIMPLE for me! I stamped Blush Hearts to create a background on the Vintage Cream Cardstock from PTI. I created the Happy Birthday sentiment by combining two different sets and only inking the words I wanted to use. Working with limited supplies has been challenging but fun to push myself to think outside my normal creativity. Hopefully, though, by the time this post is live, I'll be comfortably settled in my NEW crafty room. :D

Hope you enjoy!   As for today's event, there are THREE NEW RELEASES and since we're feelin' generous on our birthday, we are giving away THREE August Release Prize Packs today (exclusive digi not included :) just for hopping with our Farmers and coming BACK to the TGF Blog to wish our little Farm a happy day!

You will have until 11:59pm CST tonight to comment on the DT's blogs and come back to the TGF Blog to leave some love!

Let's get started...first on the TGF Blog, where you can head back anytime in case you get lost or need to refresh along the way (trust me, we KNOW how exciting this is...heehee  ;)  oh!  and we have ONE more special surprise today, too.  Our Farm Fresh Challenge Team is joining in on the FUN!  Please welcome these girls to our party as well- the more the merrier, I always say!

back to TGF Blog to leave your comment to WIN!

See you back soon and THANKS celebrating with THREE CHEERS for THREE YEARS!  Here's to MANY more!

The party continues at The Greeting Farm!

Hi Everyone!

I'm back today with more new party friends celebrating The Greeting Farm's 3rd birthday! Today, I have previewed miss Amelia for you. I'm in the middle of a move so I have to keep this short and sweet and let me tell you how, um, interesting *challenging* it was to create my preview cards with half of my supplies packed up!!! LOL All I really had was access to my trimmer, *no dies, oh my*, some paper I left out that I knew I wanted to use with this release and my trims. I kept feeling like there was something MISSING!!! The sentiment is one of 3 included in the set and I created it to slide out from behind the pink cardstock.

That's it for me, but be sure to check out the rest of the farmers to see the delicious goodness they have for you today:

And don't forget to stop by to party with us at The Farm on Monday Aug 1, 2011 12:01a CST for a fabulous blog hop as we combine with the Farm Fresh Challenge Crew for your chance to win one of 3 fabulous prize packs!!

Winner of My Blog Candy!

I'm so sorry I am late with the announcement!!! As you all know, we are in the middle of moving and today my computer becomes unplugged so I knew I better do this before that happens! I won't be back online until the end of next week but I do have my nook so I will be semi plugged in - mostly just lurking on Facebook, checking emails, etc! Anyhoo, enough of my babbling --- You came here to see if you won - I wish I could send something to EVERYONE but if you didn't win, don't fret, one good thing about moving is purging and I've found some more duplicate copics, stamps and more that I will be giving away in a couple weeks so stay tuned. :D

Alas, random.org has picked the winner for me and that is:
Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Since I can't get crafty, promise me, some of you will do so for me! ;D

    Thinking of You Card

I have a confession to make...I'm addicted to crack....Helmar's 2 step Crackle medium that is!!! I love this stuff. I've been playing with it a LOT lately and wanted to try it while working with a stamped and colored image. I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black and colored her with Copics. I do want to advise you to ALWAYS test first to make sure what you use, in this case, Helmar's 2 step Crackle Medium will not react or mess up your work. I know it takes me some time to color an image and I would've been heartbroken so I tested on another colored image I already had laying around. And I was SO happy when it WORKED! So, here is my card:

I used the recently release Blush Society Blush Bonnie from The Greeting Farm and paired her with this fabulous October Afternoon papers. I stamped the sentiment directly on the ribbon that I made using Glimmer Mist and seam binding. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry to adhere the ribbon and bow to the card. Helmar 450 Quick dry is the best when adhering sheer ribbon like this.

Here is a close up of the image covered with Helmar 2 Step Crackle Medium. I first colored the image and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink, then I covered the entire image with Step 1 and waited about 10-15 mins before adding Step 2. It's been super hot here so I didn't have to wait the full 24 hours for the cracks to start appearing which was awesome! I think it really only took about 30 mins and then I went over the entire surface with more Tea Dye Distress Ink and wiped off the excess with a damp paper towel which just left ink in the cracks for more dept. I love how it turned out.

Be sure to check out the Helmar Facebook page all week for live updates, pics, & interviews with Tracy while she is at CHA!!! :D

Life is easy because of our friends!

I was able to break away from all the packing this weekend and create this card using the most recently released Creeper - Piper by the Greeting Farm. I absolutely LOVE her - it's so fun to color her. I used some V99 on her hair to create a bit of a purple/black color. This is going to be short & sweet as I am entirely too busy to linger on the computer to chat for any length of time. I'm also going to be short on my supply list this week. No copic lists for the time being - I'm so sorry! If there is anything you want to know, please feel free to shoot me an email. I found that Mojo's Monday sketch worked great with the Farm Fresh Friday Challenge going on so I combined them. :D

Don't forget to enter my candy above if you want to win! :D

    TGF's Throwback Thursday!

I have the pleasure of hosting our Throwback Thursday feature today at The Greeting Farm Blog! Now, being a HUGE TGF Fan for years, I had LOTS of stamps to choose from and then I saw Yoga Anya sitting there completely unloved. I hadn't even trimmed her yet! She's now retired but just as sweet as ever and was perfect for what I had in mind.

I decided to finally get started on the pages inside my art journal cover that I created for the sweet Blush Society Previews. I have to tell you, it's so therapeutic to put paint to paper and just let go creatively. This image reminds me of inner peace which I'm constantly trying to obtain! I started by coloring Anya with Copics - then I paper pieced her hair and clothes. It was really fun picking out from scraps what I wanted to use on her hair - I settled on this text DP from Graphic45 Springtime Collection. It reminded me of the swirling thoughts I constantly have in my own head! Since I have packed away most of my acrylics I went to town painting this page up with Glimmer Mists and OA Sprinklers. There are lots of layers here, and I ended up digging out my gesso from a box because I realized that it was not a good thing to pack that up! haha I also used some Helmar Crackle Medium all over the page and dried it with a heat gun which provided the necessary crackle without the wait time. ;D You can't really see it but I did use the Blush Heart Stamp in yellow on the page and then lightly outlined the word 'Peace' with a marker and used some gesso to paint over it and then some pink acrylic to paint over that to highlight it even more. I tried to make a little thought bubble around the word but not sure you can really tell.

I love how it turned out and I hope you will dig thru some of your older stamps to see if there is one that is just begging to see some ink like my Yoga Anya! Also, be sure to check out the TGF Blog tomorrow for another FUN announcement regarding our new obsession with art journaling and mixed media. You are NOT going to want to miss this!!! I have it on good authority that there WILL be a prize....;D So, get inspired and let go of your fears - art is good for the soul and there is NO wrong way to do it! It's your creativity that makes it beautiful.

    Simply Sassy Farewell Post

It really seems like yesterday when I got the happy email from Maria Therese asking if I'd join the Simply Sassy DT for a 3 month guest spot and now it's over much too soon! I had a blast joining with the sassy girls during these past 2 releases - they are so much fun and sweet to be around. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to be asked to come back some day! :D I will always be a Simply Sassy fan and will continue to use them often so be sure to stop by my blog any time for more inspiration. :D

For my final inspiration card today, I just HAD to ink up Rupunzel! I loved her from the moment I saw her and that was the first set where I bought ALL 6 of them at once! I know, I couldn't help myself! :D So, when making a birthday card for my daughter last week, this stamp definitely was the one to use because of her long beautiful hair. My daughter, 1. LOVES the movie Tangled and 2. Has pretty long hair herself! I colored Rupunzel using copics and gave her dark brown hair and hazel eyes like my daughter and a fabulous red dress because my daughter's favorite color is red. Now, I have to say here, that while I was making this card it was late....my daughter's birthday was the next day (I am NEVER one to make a card too early, LOL) and I put a big giant 5 on it and took this pic when I was all done. THEN I went to show it to my hubby and he looks at it, then looks at me and says "What's the 5 for?" to which I immediately exclaim "Oh My GAWD, she's 6!!!" LOL So, thankfully it was just easy peasy to switch out this sticker for the one that said 6 but I just didn't photograph it again. haha I think I was just in a little bit of denial that my firstborn is growing up so fast!

So, that is my final post. I am sad but so happy to have had this amazing opportunity to design for Simply Sassy stamps. It truly was an honor and one I will cherish always! Like I said, I have fallen hard for these adorable images, they have even worked their way up to my top 3 stamp loves for sure! I am just thrilled that Krista shares with us her art in this way so we can all enjoy her images for years and years! :D

Just Stamp It! Moxie Fab Challenge Card

I created this card for the Stamp It! Cards Week Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. :D  I was extremely inspired by Melissa Bickford's card on p.14 and how she stamped her own sort of background. So, I pulled out these new *to me* PTI stamps called Mehndi Medallion and went to town. I absolutely LOVED the result - there is absolutely NO dp on these cards and no layers yet they look gorgeous! At least I think so *giggle* I couldn't stop at just one so I created a set of 4 and will package them up for some lucky recipient at some point. :D

This card was fun to create - I really stepped out of my comfort zone with all that white space and NO designer paper! Make sure you stop by the Moxie Fab blog to see what the fabulous grand prize is just by entering this challenge!! Seriously, if you are a card maker - this one is so easy for you - just Stamp it! and enter! :D

I also have to thank Jen Shults for her absolutely amazing post on taking good pictures of cards HERE on the TGF blog. Just a switch of one tiny little setting that I had no idea what it mean on my point & shoot camera made a world of difference on the quality of my pictures and I honestly thought my pictures were pretty good to start! haha Seriously, this took them to the NEXT level. Please check it out if you ever wanted to know how to take GREAT pictures of your cards for your blog! :D

    My TGF Designer Spotlight

Farmer Carisa, Oh MY Goodness - I love the ring that has to it! *giggle* I am SO thrilled to be here kicking off the Designer Spotlights with the new crop of farmers!! It's been so much fun already and we're SO happy that the July release has been so well received by our fabulous TGF Fans! You all are the best & most sweetest bunch ever. All the comments, I wish I could respond to each and every one of them, so instead I'm just going to say a big collective THANK YOU for making me feel so loved and truly welcomed as a part of this fabulous DT!!!

Ok, so a little bit about myself before I show you my card for today! I'm in my 30's, it's just easier to say that because honestly after I had my 2nd kid, I forget how old I am sometimes and now I have three so forget it! LOL I married my HS sweetheart nearly 11 yrs ago - we'll be celebrating a pretty cool anniversary this year on 11-11-11!!! We have 3 gorgeous and amazing kiddos, Tolla is 6, Teagan aka. Tiki is 4 and Trey is about to turn 16 months in a couple of days. They are so sweet and I'm so blessed to call myself their mom. Btw, in case you didn't know, Trey and Lily Bean are betrothed. haha!!! Yes, I'm lucky enough to live near The Farm itself and I tend to head out there every once in awhile to hang with the fabulous Marie and now Lily who is just as cute as in all her pics, if not CUTER! It's so awesome to be such a fan of these stamps and yet have found a true friendship in the middle of my obsession! I have met so many amazing people thru this hobby and I will always treasure that above all. I was thinking back about when I started stamping and I remember trying out for TGF DT during their first call!! Isn't that amazing? See, I just want to tell you all that good things DO come to those who wait. Never give up and if you love what you are doing - keep doing it for yourself! ;D I am just as thrilled NOW to be a part of this DT as I would have been THEN. Probably, to be honest, even more so! I was tempted to share a card I submitted way back then, but eek, LOL! Just let me be honest and say, I have come a LOOOOONG way. ;D haha Practice, Practice, Practice.

So, with that, let me share with you what I made for you. I am absolutely in LOVE with the new Blush Society stamps - especially Babette - I LOVE her hair! And she's so vintage, I just had to try coloring her monochromatically.

I am also following this weeks Farm Fresh WOW Challenge which is to do black and white with a splash of color. It's pretty obvious my color splash is RED! I was flipping thru my papers and saw this amazing one from October Afternoon 5 and dime collection and ran with it. I also used some OA Sprinklers on the DP to make it even more vintage. There is still time to enter the challenge and I hope you will pop on over and join in all the challenge fun! :D

So, that's it for me! I can't believe I have just made my first official post as a farmer!!! Seriously, I'm still pinching myself. I want to thank Jessica and Marie so much for this opportunity and I'm hoping time will just slow a smidgen so it will last a little bit longer! ;D You know what they say, time flies when you are having fun, so I'm thinking I will blink and it will all be over! haha

Trudy and her Party Dress Interactive Card!

When I saw Mo's Digital Pencil had posted an adorable FREEBIE called Trudy and her Party Dress on her Facebook fan page - I just couldn't wait to get her, print her out and color her. As soon as I saw the paper doll dress, I had it in my head that I wanted to create a card that you could switch out different dresses. Last night I went to Archiver's with some friends and was able to get started on my idea. Thank you, Angela & Theresa for some fun girl time and enabling, ahem, I mean inspiring me with the perfect background paper for this card! ;D At first I couldn't figure out HOW exactly to make it so you could switch up the dresses until I saw the PTI Dress Form peeking out from my supplies - then I thought YESSSSS! Felt!

When I was a kid I LOVED those felt board that told the story using different pieces so that is what I did. I cut out a square of felt and put it on the back of each dress and then a square on Trudy's belly. So, one dress hangs on the felt dress form and the other on Trudy and then you can switch them:

Yay!!! It worked and my girls FLIPPED OUT when they saw it this morning - they love it so much - in fact, they are fighting over it right now. *giggle* Heck, I could hardly go to sleep after I finished it last night because I was so excited that I had done what I set out to do. :D Looks like I'll need to make another one so they can each have their own! I don't normally paper piece digital images but I couldn't resist with this idea. It was actually fairly easy to do. I placed a bunch of dresses on one sheet of paper after I had sized it & the girl image at the same time in PSE. Then I ran it thru my printer on a plain sheet of paper. This gave me a guide to know where to place my DP. Once I had the DP all down (I used washi tape), I ran it thru the printer again. I took a couple of pics to explain it better:

Seriously, easy and super cute! Of course, some of the paper, I didn't think out too well as the black was just too dark to use, but I did get about 3 good ones and I will definitely be doing this some more. To save time, I saved the file so I can reuse the same sheet of paper with different DP! :D

Thanks for stopping by - It was fun creating something just for kicks & stepping out of my comfort zone a little. :D It reminded me of why I love this hobby so much in the first place!

WELCOME to the JULY RELEASE event....my first DT blog hop with The Greeting Farm! Today we have not one...not two...but SIX new releases at the Farm and they are all waiting to come to you, rock your creative minds, and quite possibly, even make you blush :)

....and of course, you know what that means! The BIGGER the release?  The BIGGER the prize!  Can you believe that ONE lucky winner will take home ALL SIX of the new stamps...the ENTIRE July release!  That's one BIG prize!

What's more?  Well, we are SO excited about our July stamps that we didn't want to stop there!  IN ADDITION, one lucky winner will ALSO be randomly chosen to take home the new Blush Society line, that's 4 stamps in all for this month!   Both winners will be drawn as a result of completing the Blog Hop and going back to the TGF Blog to leave a comment...so be sure you get your entry in....and hey!  Who DOESN'T love a bunch of amazing inspiration on the way!

My project today features the always adorable Oliver from the new OA-Summer Fun set. I couldn't wait to color him up after seeing the amazing inspiration from the rest of the DT on Tuesday and I knew he would be perfect on my birthday calendar that I'm slowly but surely completing! :D It was such a challenge to color his goggles just right but I think they came out alright - I used a LOT of colorless blender on them to make it look like you were looking thru them to his hair. Then I added a few strokes of Copic Opaque White to accent them.
Here is a little closer look - I also followed fellow farmer, Jen Shults Deconstructed Sketch Challenge for my project today!

So, yeah!  Let's get started...and don't forget to START on the TGF Blog, or head back there in case you get lost along the way :)

    Simply Sassy Puppy Love Birthday

I have a fun card to share with you today on my 2nd to last Simply Sassy inspiration post using a stamp from the most recent holiday release called Puppy Love which is available at Funky Kits - though it seems to be out of stock now because it's super cute! When I saw this one, immediately it reminded me of when I was 10 and got a puppy for my birthday so I had to alter it a bit for a bday card. It was very easy to do as I just cut out the bone with the holly on it and whala, birthday card! :D I paper pieced the present with matching paper and added a simple  birthday sentiment. I colored the image with copics but forgot to write them down before I packed them up. I love the hair on this one as it's fun to color curly hair a bit messy with little blending! :D

That's it for me today - hope you have a fabulous weekend. I'll be back next Friday with my last Simply Sassy post *sniff, sniff* It's been so much fun designing for Simply Sassy & with the rest of the Simply Sassy team. Let me tell you, it went by WAYYYY too fast!!!I keep hoping that somehow it won't have to end so soon!
