Altered fun with Nikki Sivils & Helmar!

**Please scroll down for my TGF Creeper Piper Preview Card!**
This entire week Helmar is pairing up with Nikki Sivils for some amazing inspiration! I originally was just going to make a card *which I still did* But when I came across this round clipboard ripe for altering, I couldn't resist and had to alter it this morning to add to my post today!!! I was just saying the other day I need to start making lists because, seriously, I felt like I was getting nothing done even though I was going non stop - sooo, I am going to use this fun little clipboard to clip up my to do lists from now on. :D I hope you like it as much as I do!

Isn't it adorable? That is because I used the adorable We Are Family paper collection from Nikki Sivils. I just adore it. The little banner was part of a cute journal tag that I cut out and pieced together to look like a real little banner complete with twine. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry to attach the banner and the twine. I love it because since it dries clear you don't have to worry about such a tiny space to work with and I'm confident it is not going anywhere! I just love all the journaling tags in this paper line and do have in mind a family album that I'm going to attempt one of these days but for this clipboard I just adored the "House Rules" and added some fun inspirational tiny type stickers from Cosmo Cricket as well. This was really fast and easy to do - I adhered the bottom layer of pattern paper using Helmar Acid Free Glue and then took my craft knife and cut around the clipboard - I've seen Tracy do this and seriously it's easy peasy!!! Plus you get the perfect cut EVERY.TIME. I wanted to share how I attached the Ribbon Roses using Helmar 450 Quick Dry:

I find it easiest when I'm attaching a long piece of ribbon to draw my line of glue where I'm going to put the ribbon.

Then I start adhereing the ribbon along the glue line I just laid down.

The glue stays wet long enough to do this so don't worry!

And done! Easy Peasy! :D

I also created a little house warming card using the same paper line. One of the things that I LOVE LOVE LOVE is that there are 2 sheets of the patterns reduced to 6x6 size which is just perfect for card makers! This was a LOT of fun! I cut out all the little pieces to create the scene and used Helmar Zap Dots to create dimension with the different layers. Using the sticker letters from the same line I spelled out congrats! across the top and then stamped New Home under the house. We are in the middle of selling our house and I thought it would be cute to leave the new owners this card..is that weird? haha Just something to bless them as they start their new life and family in the home that blessed us with our family. I don't know, I might chicken out but that is where the idea behind this card came from!

So, that's it for me today - but be sure to keep checking the Helmar DT blog as well as the Nikki Sivils DT blog for even more inspiration as the week continues! Also, you will want to be sure to stop by both Helmar and Nikki Sivils Facebook pages as there are fun giveaways planned there as well!! ;D We are so close to reaching our goal of 4,000 FB fans - only 19 to go!!! Are you a fan yet? If not, head on over! :D

This Creeper sure isn't blushing!!!

I am SO excited to introduce you to the newest in the Creeper series - Piper! Creeper Piper will release on Friday, July 1st along with the other AMAZING releases at 12:01 am CST during our DT blog hop. She is sassy, she is funky & she sure doesn't know how to blush! *giggle*

Introducing "Creeper Piper"

Seriously, isn't she awesome? I love her!!! She was perfect paired with this Cosmo Cricket the boyfriend paper kit. Whenever I reach for my creepers, I tend to go a little wild and out of the box with the hair color. She is colored with copics and her hair is with R81, R83, R85, V99 with a touch of BV00, BV02, BV01, BV11. I have had a lot of comments asking about how I do the white highlights & if I use a gel pen.....I will gladly share my secrets with all you TGF Fans!

I am actually using Copic Opaque White to do the highlights. I seriously LOVE this stuff. It is a thick acrylic water-based paint that I use with a very fine tip paintbrush where I want to add just a bit of highlight or texture depending on how thick I apply it. If I'm adding highlights, I will put a dab of it on a paint tray and mix it with a bit of water - this gets it to an ink-like consistency great for highlights. If you apply it thicker from the bottle, I have found that it dries a bit raised for added texture which is really cool!

That's it for me today, but we sure do hope you'll stop by the TGF Blog tomorrow, beginning at 12:01 am CST for our"BLUSHIN' into SUMMERTIME" DT Blog Hop/Release Party.  The ENTIRE JULY RELEASE will be up for grabs (and this is One HUGE release!) as well as some prizes and SUR-prises going on around our Facebook page, etc.... we definitely don't want you to miss a single minute of the FUN that we have in store for you, so we can't wait for you to join us then!  Don't forget to stop by the Farm Fresh Challenge Blog tomorrow for another awesome "Throwback Challenge" too!  As new meets old, there is a TON going on this month on the Farm...thanks for being a part of it and ENJOY the HOT new releases tomorrow...all SIX of them!!!!

Who's READY for some SUMMER FUN?!?

I am!  I am!  We heard ya over at The Greeting Farm, too, because Oliver and Amelia are already on the task at hand to bring YOU some SUMMER FUN!

Introducing....Oliver/Amelia SUMMER FUN!

I LOVE this set because it reminds me of fun days at the beach when I was growing up. Being from Florida, going to the beach was easy, fast & free so we went a lot as you can imagine. I loved the pool best and would beg to go to the pool at the beach every time we went.

With that in mind, I created a fun card using Amelia from the set. Oh my gosh, how cute is she?! Her hair is so much fun to color! I love the sentiments in true TGF Fonts we have come to love and adore. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have kraft CS back in my supplies -- actually you can probably take a guess since it's been on nearly all my cards lately! haha I also dug into my October Afternoon 5 & Dime paper pack which was just perfect with the bright fun vintage colors.

SUMMER FUN will be released this FRIDAY, JULY 1st, during our "BLUSHIN' into SUMMERTIME" DT BLOG HOP/RELEASE PARTY, beginning at 12:01 am, CST...but you can WIN this adorable set today by 'swimmin'  over to the TGF Blog to read how!

We sure do hope you'll splash on over to party with us this Friday, but for now, I'll be back tomorrow with ONE more preview- can you BELIEVE how HOT, HOT, HOT these releases are for the month of July?!?

In the meantime, you'll definitely want to stop back over at the TGF BLOG tomorrow for a special treat from July Guest Designer Jen Shults!  We have a FULL week of fun planned and you won't want to miss a day!   See you then!

The Greeting Farm July Previews Begin TODAY!!!

I'm BLUSHING!!!!!!

You're not going to believe WHY.... because I am a new TGF FARMER!!! I have literally been having to keep this secret for months! LOL And if you know me AT ALL, you know how hard that was and how much of a dream come true this is for me. I have been a BIG fan of The Greeting Farm since I first started stamping a couple years ago. I still remember placing my first order for Flutter Anya and seeing at the bottom of the order page that the company was located in the next town - so being bold as I sometimes am, I emailed the owner asking if I could save shipping & pick up the stamps - since then I am super blessed to know and call Marie my friend so this is a HUGE honor for me to be part of her & Jess's DT with the rest of this fabulous group of ladies. I am SUPER excited and nervous to get started with this July release. You are seriously going to LOVE LOVE LOVE these new stamps!

As if my own excitement weren't enough, I am not alone in it...be sure to check out the TGF BLOG today for the announcement of the rest of the NEW TGF Farmers and check out the TALENT I am amongst:

Jessica Diedrich, TGF Creative Coordinator

and our Guest Designer who is NO stranger to TGF, Jen Shults!  Just wait til you see what she has up her sleeve for us this month!

How's that for a bunch of blushing beauties?!?   Well, turns out we're not the ONLY ones BLUSHING at TGF....

...introducing the BRAND-NEW TGF BLUSH SOCIETY!!!

We are thrilled to bring you TWO brand new card, scrapbook, and mixed-media friendly backgrounds to compliment SPLOTCHY released a few months ago....with our HEART Background and HELLO Background!   In addition, the pride and joy of the new BLUSH SOCIETY?   We bring you Blush Bonnie and Blush Babbette...two new "blushing beauties" that will be fantastic for cards, art journaling, and MORE!    Here is my project:
I created this art journal cover on a 5x7 canvas panel using Blush Hearts & Blush Babette. Isn't she the cutest?! I just love this new blush line and LOVE the hearts with that perfect messy splatter. :D You get two different size hearts in the set and the Blush Society Girls each come with their own sentiments that I have featured with them! How cool is that?!

For my card, I used Blush Bonnie with Blush Hello. I am also following this week's Mystery Monday Farm Fresh Challenge. I loved the layout especially for using the Hello stamp for my middle panel. Seriously, how cute are these new stamps?!?!

There is so much excitement buzzing around the Farm today, you'll definitely want to start on the TGF BLOG because we have a HUGE PRIZE PACK to give away today for visiting us NEW Farmers and leaving some love and your thoughts on the new "BLUSH SOCIETY!"  We can't wait to hear them!

That's it for me today, but I'll be back later this week, still blushing ;), with MORE TGF previews!

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

This is my first time participating in the Papertrey Customer Blog Hop! I'm so excited - I finally refilled my coveted PTI Kraft CS and added this adorable Honey Bee Sentiment set to my order. After I looked at the inspiration photo I knew I wanted to take out my Twinkling H2O's and paint the background on a piece of watercolor paper. This was so much fun. After it dried, I laid the template on top and stippled Helmar Gemstone Glue over top. After removing the template I sprinkled a fair amount of fine glitter. I love the effect! Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black. SO quick, easy and pretty darn cute!! Now that I've added my post, I can't wait to go thru the rest of the participants. I just love the clean & simple projects PTI customers make! I have a box of goodies on the way and can't wait for them to arrive this week!

All you need....

It's my last day guest designing for Meljen's Designs and I think this is my favorite card of the month! I love their fairies and hope they will release more cuz they are just too cute! This one is called Pixie Dust Fairy and I paired her with a sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. it says "All you need is faith, trust & pixie dust..." So cute, huh? I colored her with copics to match this fabulous new paper I picked up at HL by melody ross called The Ava Collection - it was on clearance and I was so happy. The colors are pure summer & there are foil & flocked pages in the pack which are gorgeous.

I want to thank Dee and everyone at Meljen's Designs for asking me to guest design in June! It was so much fun to design with these cute images. I love their simple & whimsical design - perfect for the coloring addict like myself!

altering a frame made easy using Helmar!

I bought this frame eons ago from a $1 bin at some big box place. LOL You know what I'm talking about. I pick these up all the time thinking oooh, this will be fun to decorate and then it sits forever....well, NOT ANYMORE!!! Ever since being introduced to Helmar Acid Free Glue a few months ago, I have been altering everything I can get my hands on!! And picking up even more that sit in my closet just waiting with anticipation.
Alteredframe_06.23-3
So, today I decided to work on this frame for my hubby. He's always asking for frames of the kids to take to work and I realized he didn't have one of Trey yet. I know, shame on me! So, I added my first layer of October Afternoon paper using Helmar Acid Free Glue. Then came the fun part! I really want to make this dirty little vintage frame for our son. So, I added a layer of gesso around the edges and alsosome tea dye distress ink. Then using walnut stain, I used Splotchy stamps by The Greeting Farm to strategically add those blots of ink - LOVE the effect. I also recently "aquired" a warehouse box from Maya Road and got these adorably cute chipboard clothing and upon further investigation saw these cute little onesies and overalls in the package that I literally squealed as I knew I was going to use them on the frame. I used Helmar Acid Free Glue again to adhere the pattern paper on the chipboard pieces. This was so fun, fast & easy. I hope it's not too cutesy for my hubby to have at work. If it is, oh well, I'll keep it cuz I love it!!!
Alteredframe_06.23-2
I almost forget my favorite part! I added some Helmar Crackle Medium in a few spots around the corners and edges of the frame. While it was still cracking, I rubbed in some tea dye distress ink, it was about an hour after I added step 2 so it was pretty dry but not the full overnight stated in the instructions. Sometimes - a lot of times - I'm a bit impatient! haha But I love the effect. Here are a couple close ups. I also used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots *to adhere the bottlecap* and Helmar Zap Dots for embellishments on the frame.

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you are inspired to do some altering today!

Meljen's June Guest Designer Cards

Hi Everyone - I'll be honest with you, I've been a very bad blogger lately - I am blaming summer for the heat and trying to keep my kiddos from entirely making a mess of the house in case we have a showing! haha I don't know about you but sometimes I also find it hard to find the words that go along with a card or project I've made. I love getting inky and messy and digging into my stamping but blogging....eh, sometimes I'm just not that great at it - soooo, I have to apologize to Meljen's Designs for not being so timely in posting my projects to MY blog. :D Ok, disclaimer done, wanna see what I HAVE been up to using Meljen's adorable stamps? I have two cards to share today that I just love!!

My first card incorporates the adorable Firefly Fairy. Isn't she a cutie?! I think you know I have a "thing" for fairies and all magical creatures so it was a given that I had to pick up this cutie and color her right away. I love glitter with my fairies because what fairy doesn't have some pixie dust so I took some double sided tape and created the border around the DP and then sprinkled the glitter on it.  This was a sketch but now I can't remember which one and I'm sure the challenge deadline has long since past anyway! She is colored with copics and again I tried to create the look of distress ink coloring with my copics. This was actually my first attempt - I think with more practice it will get better and I love the effect. The paper is Echo Park from the Life is Good collection.
My 2nd card using Tweet Heart Birds and I printed it directly onto kraft cs from my printer. This was really easy to do - I lined it up in PSE and printed it on plain paper to see how it was aligned. Then I made a few adjustments and printed on the kraft. This way I didn't waste my kraft if it was not right the first time *which it wasn't btw* LOL I'm obsessed with clean and simple lately - I think it's because I have been admiring the style for so long and just need to try it! I actually stepped away from my copics for this one and colored with Prisma Colored Pencisl and OMS. It is so fun to break away from something and dig into something new every once in awhile. I especially love the look of pencils on kraft.

So that's it for me today. I hope all of you enjoyed a happy father's day with the father's in your lives, husbands, dads, granddads. We enjoyed a nice quiet day at home with my hubby as the kids and I doted on him. Oh, I created him an adorable shadowbox using this picture:
I didn't take a pic of the finished project but will do that and post it later this week. I got the idea for this from HERE. My girls made lower case "d's" in case anyone is wondering. LOL, my hubby thought they were backwards until I said they are lowercase! but then I realized the "A" is uppercase, but ah well. It's the thought that counts right?!

For my card, I chose to use All Wrapped Up! She is a dream to color - so much detail in this stamp. I have been obsessed with Clean And Simple cards lately. I stared at this for a LONG time before deciding that I wasn't going to try any more....and oh my gosh, well, I guess not, I was going to say NO Designer Paper again, but I used DP for my flower. hehe I finally replenished my PTI kraft cardstock so I had to dig into that right away. I used PTI snow white to stamp the background with snowflakes and then also added a little distressing to the edges. I love it. For my image border, that is just some washi tape - isn't it fab!? I'm definitely going to be doing that some more. I love the unique look.

Well, I don't want to keep you long, so now it's time to hop on over to Autumn's Blog for even more pretty eye candy!! Today I'm sharing a sneaky peek of the all new Retail Therapy Simply Sassy stamp that will be available TOMORROW exclusively at Funky Kits! I loved this one as soon as I saw her! I can't wait for the hop tomorrow - You are going to LOVE these new stamps! :D I kept the design simple as I'm finally following in one of Jen's Deconstructed Sketch challenges! I've been stalking them and finally got to fit one in. I love her sketches. I also tried out my new Spellbinders Snowflake Impressibility plate - I found it at Hobby Lobby for just $4.00 but it didn't really show up on the thicker silver card stock....I need to play with them some more - they really are beautifully intricate designs! I loved digging out these older TGF holiday papers from my stash. I've been hoarding them long enough! Making Cards with Best Creation & Helmar!

I hope you are enjoying this week at Helmar paired with Best Creation Inc as much as I am! I have absolutely LOVED visiting both DTs this week and being completely blown away each day. When I got these papers to play with I was in love with both lines. It was awesome to see such a beautiful pink girly line and then a fun bright boy line. They both have this amazing glitter to the pages that is completely coated so it doesn't get everywhere!!! I am definately a new & excited fan for Best Creation Inc paper - its quality is superb!!!

Bestcreation_06.16

For my first card, I just had to cut into that beautiful Ballet Princess line! I love anything girly - must have to do with having 2 girly girls of my own! And I had just picked up this sentiment stamp a couple days ago which was just begging to be paired with this cutie patootie! I love how you can see all the glitter in the picture. Sometimes it's so hard to photograph! For the crown and tulle on the image I used Helmar Gemstone Glue to apply the glitter. Now, the way I've found the best to apply this to small areas is to paint it on using a paintbrush. It's so easy and I know I'm getting the glue exactly where I want it to be and nowwhere else. I am addicted to using the gemstone glue with glitter because it holds it really well and because it dries clear it's still so shimmery which is what you want when using glitter!

Bestcreation_06.16_side

I love being able to show you where I used the product on my card. I love this pretty satin and tulle ribbon and Helmar 450 Quick Dry is the perfect adhesive to attach it to my card. I don't sew on my cards - I'm too lazy so I love how it looks stitched on the card even though it isn't! Shhh, our little secret. haha I used two different sized zap dots for my sentiment and image so they would have a bit of different height.

Bestcreation_06.16_2

My 2nd card was a no brainer for me! My hubby is an engineer and the Robot Line was perfect to create a fathers day card for him!!! I started with one of the journaling pieces with the gears on it and built it from there. The yellow paper was perfect design for the shirt & I added Helmar Zap Dots to give it some dimension! I used Liquid Scrap Dots for the laser chipboard gears which is just perfect for intricate designs like this that you still want to give dimension to. For the paper since I used most of it that does have the coating on it, I used Helmar Craft Glue to adhere together. I am thrilled with the outcome and cannot wait to give it to my hubby on fathers day! I'm so proud of him and this card is everything that he is.

TTCRD - Challenge #4 - Summertime!

Welcome to another fabulous challenge at Through The Craft Room Door! This challenge was perfect as it's definately feeling like summer here in Colorado. This week we have an inspiration photo for ya - and just a theme to use summertime images/colors:

We used to have a water thing like that - and I know the kids lately wish we still did! It's been H-O-T!!! So, my inspiration came from the bright colors and I used a brand new ippity set called New Season, New Wonder which I have available NOW on my ippity blog!

At first, I wasn't sure about this set, but as soon as I got it, I knew I was going to have to ink it up! This was the perfect time to do so. :D I also used this week's Monday Mojo sketch and kept it CAS for CAS-ual Friday's bingo challenge (I chose the 2nd row down, Gems, Dies, Flowers). This is my first time entering even though I've been a fan since they started their blog. I'm always in awe of CAS cards - but they are NOT easy for me. It helped to have that sketch to start with. My hubby paid me the BEST compliment when I showed him my card when I was finished because he said it's very clean looking! I laughed and said that is EXACTLY what I was going for!!! He breathed a huge sigh of relief as he didn't know if he was saying something right or wrong. *giggle*

I'm playing with LOTS of new goodies on this card! We had an appraisal at the house on Monday and I met up with fellow blogger & ippity chick Noelle with the kiddos and we made an impromptu visit to Hobby Lobby! I wish I had my camera on me as our girls were so stinkin' cute holding hands down the aisles together!! I got the inverted scalloped circle nestie for just $5.39!!! There was no way I could pass that up. And their trim/ribbon were 50% off so that's also on my card today as well as new ink from memento that was 40% off!! The dew drops are from Robin's Nest that I got from my Helmar DT package and I love them because it's hard to see in the photo but there is a lot of dimension and variety in them, they aren't just a flat yellow and using it with the Helmar Gemstone glue retains that beautiful quality.

To adhere my ribbon and trim I turned to my Helmar 450 Quick Dry which is perfect for fabric, ribbon and more. I used it right on top of the orange ribbon to adhere the crochet trim and because it dries clear you cannot even see it plus it's not going anywhere! For the flowers, I used Liquid Scrap Dots as I needed just a bit of height from the center panel as I adhered that with 2 different sizes of Helmar Zap Dots.

*gasp* I just realized I didn't use a LICK of designer paper on my card!!!! Wow, that does NOT happen often. haha

This is the only one of the most recent collection that I received that I hadn't inked up yet so today is HER day! She's called 5th Avenue and is available at Funky Kits NOW. OH MY GOODNESS - She totally puts the Sassy in Simply Sassy, don't you think?!?!?! I LOVE LOVE LOVE coloring her hair! It's just so beautiful and flowing - almost makes me want to grow my own hair out! haha *almost* I also tried a new coloring technique which is coloring to look like distress inks with copics. It was fun to try out a new technique and I will definitely be revisiting this one.
