I made a card using this super cute baby from Some Odd Girl. Make it Colourful is seeing Red and Black with Tiddly Inks!

I'm a bit late posting today! I lost my mojo somewhere in between watching the Royal Wedding and 2 hrs of sleep! haha I finally got my card completed this morning.

This week our challenge at Make it Colourful is coloring with black and a splash of red. And we have an AWESOME sponsor:

I do believe I can credit TI for my love of digital stamps. When Christy opened her store a year ago, I made an exception to digital stamps and well, as you can see I do a lot of designing with them now. Tiddly Inks generously allowed us to choose from her new release in celebration of her first anniversary! Happy Anniversary!! I couldn't resist Come In Cuteness. I just adore this little guy - which is kinda funny given my total and utter fear of aliens. haha! As soon as I saw him I thought he'd looks so stinkin' cute traveling on MiC's Flying Balloon Chair! I guess if they were this cute and sweet I wouldn't be afraid! Balloon's just aren't complete with out a layer of glossy accents for some dimension! The sentiment comes from a Unity Stamp Co itty bitty that I cut apart to fit in the circle.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT playing this week - They seriously know how to bring it!

** 2nd post of the day - Please scroll down or click HERE for Peggy's Special Birthday Hop!**

Omgosh, I am so nervous & excited for today! So much so that I procrastinated on my card and JUST NOW FINISHED!!! I had a hard time choosing which stamp to use for my FIRST post as a Simply Sassy Guest Designer - so I finally chose Hippie Love as I've never colored her before and I just love her style - those flowers in her hair as too cute - I also love the braid in her hair. I feel like I'm a hippie at heart, I kinda have that free spirit inside me and I am pretty laid back. I had this Echo Park Summertime Collection already out on my desk so I decided to go with that as the colors matched how I colored perfectly and it's just a happy paper line because I am SOOOO happy to be a Sassy Girl! I got some new goodies yesterday so I just HAD to add strip of Tim Holtz Sketchbook Tissue Tape - I love the butterflies!

It's a Surprise HAPPY BIRTHDAY Blog Hop for Peggy!!

It's Peggy's special day at PaperWorks Co so the DT has been secretly planning this surprise blog hop to celebrate! You should have arrived from Cabio's beautiful blog but if you haven't please go to the PWCO blog for a full list of everyone participating today!

It's my normal post day but since we're taking over with the blog hop, I'm still going to show you how to create beautiful cards withOUT stamps - I have to say this has been fun & challenging for me! For my card, I used the fun & cute Echo Park Summertime collection to start. Then I found these gorgeous glitter chipboard alphas in my stash to spell out happy. They've been in my stash because even tho they are self sticking, I always find they fall off eventually - but no more thanks to a little dab of Helmar's Quick Dry 450! Those letters aren't going anywhere now.   - they were quite large so I dug out my Cosmo Cricket tiny type stickers to spell out birthday! I've been making my own stick pins so I added one I created with rainbow beads and a butterfly.

Anyway, I hope Peggy likes her card - I'm going to stick it in the post today! I didn't want to spoil the surprise. Now it's off to Danielle's darling  blog for even more birthday wishes!

Challenges I'm Playing:
Paper Romance Challenge - #48 Summer
Moving Along with the Times - #98 Anything Goes

Paper: Echo Park Summertime Collection
Embellishments: Glitter Chipboard alpha from stash; Quilt Binding Ribbon Spritzed with Glimmer Mist in Black Cherry; The Robins Nest Dew Drops in metallic blue

I'm A Helmar Girl!!!

Oh My Gosh!!! I can finally scream it out loud:

It was just over a week ago when I answered the phone and Tracy Weinzapfel herself was on the other line! Ok, I have to tell you the whole story:

We had just gotten back from a bday party at Chuck E Cheese (not my most favorite place in the world, haha, so I was kinda in a bum mood) and I was checking the phone for messages - I saw "Private Number" on the caller ID and wondered if they left a message. While I was doing that, I realized that I had no dial tone so I said "Hello?" The phone had NOT EVEN RUNG!!!! haha That's when the voice on the other line asked to speak to CarEEsa - hehe, I said, This is Carisa and she said This is Tracy from Helmar and I said Oh My God. haha She laughed and said you know who this is? I said, OF COURSE!!! And then she said the words I honestly never thought in a million years I'd hear: "We'd like to ask you to join our 2011 Design Team" OH MY GAWD!!!! The rest was pretty much a blur!!! I know I said I was excited and couldn't wait and Thank You over and over! I do remember her saying they wouldn't be making the announcement for another week so I couldn't SAY.A.WORD. What, not even a teaser post on facebook!?!?! LOL Does she KNOW how hard that was/is?!? Oh, yeah, she does, 21 other amazing ladies were told the exact same thing! When I hung up, my hubby was looking at me and I screamed and told him what it was all about - I figured I could at least tell HIM! haha

I am SOOOOOO excited to be on this DT and beyond thrilled to be working with so many of my designer IDOLS! You know who you are! ;D Seriously, Dreams.Come.True - Don't give up! If you don't try, you never know, right?! That's what I've learned. Always go for what you want. We have some really fun and exciting things coming up at Helmar - here is a bit of what you can expect from Tracy:

So, that's my BIG news that I've been keeping secret from EVERYONE! haha It's been super hard but I am excited to be working with Helmar and hopefully inspiring you all in the coming months. Again, HUGE thanks to Tracy and Helmar for this amazing opportunity! It's going to be a FUN ride for sure! Have I said how excited I am, yet???

Crafts and Me - Aliah Bookmark

I love making bookmarks - probably comes from my love of reading - plus they are SO easy and FUN to make. My mom commented on my bookmarks recently  so I knew I had to make her one. This is the one I've made her for mother's day. Maybe. I kinda like it too. haha!! I used this gorgeous hannah lynn Aliah digital image available at Crafts and Me. Gosh, I absolutely LOVE her hair! When I print out any Hannah Lynn image, I first look at the hair - and I'll admit, every time I'm a little nervous so I might stare at it for a good 5 mins trying to figure out where I want to go with it, what color, where the highlights will hit, etc. It's the best way to get inspired though because the longer I look at it the more excited I get to coloring her! I paired her with some October Afternoon paper scraps and some of this gorgeous new trim I picked up recently at Hobby Lobby. I saw the tulle and just had to grab some - it was 50% off!! How could I say no? Isn't it just a fun, whimsical touch? I love it. Expect to see more, much more! haha It was a giant roll. I also picked up what I *thought* was seam binding but it was quilt binding as I found out after I spritzed it with glimmer mist and it didn't get quite as wrinkly as I'd seen elsewhere. No prob, tho - I still LOVE it and since I had to cut it to size, I love the tattered vintage edges. That's what I used to create the twisted flower on top of the tulle. All adhered together with Helmar Craft Glue - Best.Glue.Ever!

Make it Colourful - Color Black Hair Challenge!

Wow! Thank you everyone for making our Carnival blog hop such a GREAT success!!! I have absolutely LOVED reading all of your comments and wish everyone luck in the prizes!

Now on to our regularly scheduled challenge, hehe! This we we are coloring black hair which is fun and so many different ways to do as you can see by all the coloring addicts this week! I have already seen a few techniques that I know I want to give a go. For my black hair, I kept it warm, using my W copics - just 2 W7 & W3. I would have liked it a bit darker but W7 is the darkest I have. Looks like more copics in the future! haha

We have a fantastic sponsor this week:

We were all generously given an image to play with this week as well. I just adore Momma Mae! I think she has the cutest baby bump ever! I also loved her sleek hair - perfect for how I watned to color this week. I also combined her with Make it Crafty Peach of Plenty rubber stamp. It was a bit of an after thought as it has been a crazy week and I initially made my card without one of our fabulous stamps! I kept thinking it was missing something the entire time I was making it! haha Duh, sheesh, seriously, Zoe is the best. She said I didn't have to make a whole new card with one of her images but that I wouldn't get a gold star & then I was happy to report that all was well when I added the stamp. I actually LOVE it even more now! I stamped it directly on the pattern paper and colored it with smooches and stickles. SO fun!

Crafts and Me Pink Challenge!

Welcome to a new challenge at Crafts and Me - This week our beautiful hostess is Mona and she's challenged to use pink!

It's been a rough week for my extended family as one of my mom's brothers passed away to cancer. My grandmother was hardest hit by grief I believe and she's still in the hospital as her body just couldn't handle it and she came down with pnemonia on top of it all. So, when I knew I wanted to make her a sympathy card, this beautiful Sara Burrier Twilight digi from Crafts and Me was the first stamp to come to mind. If you know me at all, you know I've always collected angels, I even have an angel tattooed on my shoulder. I believe wholeheartedly in angels watching over us so this beauty just had to go on a card for my grandma.

I colored her with copics in keeping with our PINK theme here at our Crafts and Me Challenge this week hosted by the super talented Mona! I love the rich earthy pinks found in this Echo Park Life is Good collection. I kept it simple with just a touch of embellishment with some pink twine. I added a bit of shimmer to her wings with my clear atyou glitter pen & a touch of glossy accents on her lantern.
Those big beautiful angel wings just had to be popped up so I used Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots to give them some lift so it just looks like she's about to wrap them around herself or lift off in flight. I love these scrap dots because they can give that neat angeled lift with ease & it's not going anywhere when I mail it either!

Challenges I'm Playing:
Card Patterns - Sketch #111
Going Grey with Scrap-Creations - Use Digital Image
Lady Bug Crafts - Anything Goes
The Beary Sweet Challenge - #24 Wings

Supplies -
Stamps: Twilight digital stamp by Crafts and Me; Sentiment by Ippity

Bad Hare Day?

You couldn't possibly have a bad day of any kind looking at this adorable sassy girl! I got my 2nd order of Simply Sassy stamps on Saturday and couldn't RESIST having another go at the fabulous sketch and guest designer call going on for Simply Sassy. Today is the LAST DAY so if you are thinking about it - GO FOR IT!!! You never know unless you try out and sometimes, SOMETIMES, you get the best possible email saying YES! I've been blessed to get that amazing email in the past on a few different amazing DTs. Then the real fun gets to begin - you get to design with some of your favorite products, you meet some amazing women who inspire you beyond your wildest dreams and then they sometimes become your bestest of friends! You really have NOTHING to lose by going for it and only SO MUCH more to gain. Sometimes you get rejected, but that's OKAY! It makes the yesses so much more special! So....that's why I knew I just had to color up this little cutie and submit a 2nd card for this call!
I paired her up with some of my favorite October Afternoon papers and colored her with copics. I stamped her on Copic Xpress It Blending Cardstock which I LOVE using whenever I'm out of Make it Colourful Blending Cardstock which I have to say is my first choice but I don't always have it on hand. Thankfully I do have some on it's way over to me. But it's good to have a first and 2nd choice. :D I kinda took a little bit more liberty with the sketch this time, but sometimes that happens - where ever the creativity leads ya! I wanted to give her bunny some extra texture so I pulled out my Fun Fluff and using Helmar Acid Free glue, added some white to the bunny. I have to say I love using the Helmar Acide Free glue b/c it dries clear and you can still see the outline of the stamp thru the fun fluff - very cool!
I wanted to take a side picture so you can see the texture and how I popped up my main image panel with some Helmar Zap dots. You can also see some of the subtle glitter I love getting with my atyou glitter pens by Copic.

Welcome Little Bambino!

Omgosh, is that not the sweetest little baby stamp ever? When I first saw Bambino released at Sugar Nellie as a digi stamp I could NOT wait to get my hands on it! Finally last week I broke down & added it to my collection. I wanted to get it on a card pronto and Maria Therese's sketch at The Sugar Bowl was perfect. The image is so sweet and with that little hat, you can make it pink, blue or neutral for whatever your needs! I needed a card welcoming a sweet little boy into the world so I dug out my favorite October Afternoon Ducks in a Row paper pad and started creating. I wanted to recreate those photos with the spotlight of color on the hat so I used my W copics for the skin and colored the little hat with B/BGs. I love the way it turned out. I was super bumed when I was distressing the edges while trying to be so careful not to get a fingerprint smudge on it I dropped the image right into my ink pad and got a little smudge on the image. :( But at that point I was too invested to start over!

PaperWorks Co Stamp Free Friday!

Hi everyone!

I am having fun with PaperWorks Co stamp free friday thang! It’s getting me to work on projects that I’ve put off with good intentions. LOL I bought these wooden letters from Michael’s before my son was even born! He’s 13 months now. hehee So I finally got around to altering them for his room. I used the super adorable Little Boy Collection by Echo Park! LOVE this paper collection! With 2 older sisters, I have a LOT of pink, so when my son came along I became slightly obsessed with more masculine and fun boy collections. I tell ya, if it has dinosaurs, trains, spaceships, etc on it, I must HAVE it! So, here are the letters hanging on his wall:

And here are are a couple close ups. I used Helmar Adhesives to put this entire project together! I love Helmar! I used the Acid Free glue for adhering the paper to the letters, then used Quick Dry 450 and Scrap Dots for the embellies! I love this glue – it’s the best I’ve ever used!! This is also one of the projects I submitted in trying out for their DT - Fingers Crossed!!! I absolutely LOVE how it turned out and now when I put my son to bed, I point to each of the letters then say his name as I kiss his cheek. He loves it. :D
You can see I adhered tiny clothes pins to 2 of the letters to add pictures. I knew I wanted to be able to change out pictures as he grows!

And then I love the sayings in my She stamp set and thought this was perfect for these fabulous shoes! I paired it all with some Cosmo Cricket Upcycle papers I recently picked up on a shopping spree thru Archiver's. Now I wish I had picked up more of this line as I love it!

Simply Sassy GDT Call!

It's no secret how much I adore th Simply Sassy line of stamps by Sugar Nellie! Each time a new release is available, I'm drooling and trying to figure out a way to add them to my collection without spending a small fortune! LOL Somehow a few have still managed to make their way to my home and I love coloring them. I actually missed their last guest designer call because the post was being ridiculous with security so I didn't get my stamps until after the call had ended. But never fear because they are having another guest designer call right now! All you have to do is use a Simply Sassy stamp and follow their sketch. And this tim, I have my stamps safely in hand to play as I please. It was just a matter of figuring out which ONE I wanted to use for my card! I finally decided on Hippie Chick - I love her hair and her expression - calm & peaceful! I also used my dear friend Annika's tutorial on coloring sky backgrounds with copics! It is super easy & fun - definately check it out - I have a new addiction to coloring skies I think!

I also used these fabulously gorgeous sculptured flowers by Prima - omgosh, they are beautiful - almost too beautiful to use - but what good will it do sitting in my drawer?! No, they deserve to be on a card! I am new to creating the crinkled ribbon but attempted to do so with some of my Tim Holtz trim which I spritzed with Glimmer mist Fully Purple and Chalkboard Concord. A tip for using less ribbon when I could only find a scrap is to just cut and adhere on the ends which you will see - the image panel covers the white space where there is no ribbon! Then just adhere the bow where you want. I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere the smaller flower so it will have more dimension - I love this stuff - seriously, best.stuff.ever! I was able to make it as tall as I needed - trying to show a picture of the amazing dimension here:
